ESPAnet candidates for IMPALLA

Representatives of ESPAnet and IMPALLA jointly select candidates for the IMPALLA master programme, six of which will be offered a full grant by IMPALLA, consisting of a monthly allowance of 250 euro (x10 months), a tuition waiver and a rent contribution.

Deadline for the ESPAnet/IMPALLA selection procedure is 31st of April 2011 for non-EEA students and June 17 for EEA students. Please note that the selection procedure for the ESPAnet candidates as described below on this website is different from the procedure as described at the IMPALLA website. ESPAnet applicants need to follow the procedure as described below.

IMPALLA/ESPANET selection procedure  

Since IMPALLA is an English taught advanced academic degree in International Comparative Social Policy Analysis, we welcome students with a fitting profile. Apart from, obviously, your interest in comparative social policy, it is essential that

  • by the start of the IMPALLA academic year on the first of September you should hold a university degree of minimum four years in one of the Social or Behavioural Sciences
  • you have completed some research methods and statistics course work
  • you are able to understand and communicate in English

The procedural steps to be taken are the following:

1. Complete the IMPALLA/ESPANET selection form
2. Complete the IMPALLA/ESPANET methodology and tatistics test
3. Provide the following additional documents

  • A copy of all relevant transcripts of academic records
  • Translation of transcripts if not in English, Dutch, German or French
  • Two reference letters from two different referees, at least one of which explicitly attests your statistical and quantitative methods knowledge. Both letters should be signed and stamped and in a sealed envelope.
  • A copy of your passport/identity card

4. Compose your application package by including all documents listed above and send it by regular mail, express mail or registered mail to

Upon receipt, the IMPALLA/ESPANET selection committee starts its selection procedure. As the IMPALLA programme leads to a diploma issued by Leuven University, selected students will get an invitation to subsequently apply through the formal Leuven University online application procedure.
