On these pages we invite you to explore the work that we undertake and the people who are behind the research and teaching in the department. We bring together expertise from a wide range of disciplinary fields allowing us to use a great diversity in methods to research several important policy fields. Browsing through our sites you will get the chance to learn about our work in five thematic areas (children and families, education, health and wellbeing, labour markets and welfare, as well as socio-legal and civic matters) using a mixture of five approaches (an empirical and practical focus, engaging with government and policy, addressing inequality and stratification, undertaking international comparison and employing multilevel perspectives).
