Nughmana has just started her 1 year research training as part of the 1+3 studentship at Edinburgh University. Nughmana is based in the School of Social and Political Sciences where she will undertake a Masters in Social Research before progressing to her PhD. The PhD topic looks at extended family abuse within the Muslim community, examining in depth a policy relevant aspect of Muslim women’s experiences in Scotland, namely family violence, with a focus on South Asian women. Nughmana has been researching this topic for the past 3 years at both undergraduate (BA (Hons) Law) and postgraduate level (Msc Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies).
